Step
back into the pages of history and visit places that helped shape today's
modern world. Millennia ago Tunisia was a green and fertile land where
early man took his first tentative steps. Later Berbers roamed the vast
expanse of the now faceless desert. In its heyday, ancient Tunisia, was
the centre of the world of commerce. The power of Carthage rivalled Rome,
who, unwilling to become a second rate power, fought many a desperate
war with Carthage. The Roman conquerors razed the magnificent city to
the ground.
